Administrative and OR Dancer Intern For Emerging Dance Company
Vanessa Anspaugh Dance ( vanessaanspaugh.com ) is looking for dancer or two that is seeking experience and exposure working with an emerging NYC dance company. The piece is already fully cast, but we are looking for one or more understudies/interns to help fill in for a dancer while she is away on a residency in January.
Commitment in-tales the following:
An open mind, a positive, and creative spirit
A desire to learn with the potential to someday perform with the company.
An knowledge of or personal interest in the NYC down-town dance community.
Attendance at most rehearsals on weekends. (can provide you with full schedule)
The ability to learn one or more parts in the dance and fill in when that person or persons are absent, within reason.
Attendance during the residency in the theater at NYLA February 6-11th and available during tech and lighting that week and the week of the show Feb 13th-18th.
------------
Also looking for another person who is interested in the above as well as OR Interest in assisting the company with general administrative and technical support such as things like, emailing dancers schedules, general errands, mailings, communicating with Box Office for sales and comps, helping with fund-raising and or fund-raiser events. (Computer and graphic skills a plus!) ( Stage Managing Experience also a big Plus)- These duties are not required, BUT have the potential to grow in to a small part time job.
At this point we are working on a major fund-raising campaign so that we can begin by paying our dancers more adequate wages, as well as cover all the general costs of running a company and preparing for a show. We are opperating on a very tight budget. However, if we raise the money we are hoping to raise, then we will be able to offer you a small stipend, depending on the type of work you end up doing. This would range in the ammount of $100-$500 between now and February, depending on what we raise. So this is clearly not a money gig.
What does this offer you?
Time in the studio dancing and learning new and exciting material OR Experience seeing what it's like to run and manage a company from an arts admin perspective.
The opportunity to be in the studio with a stellar cast of incredible new york dancers and performers
An inside look in to my creative process and the process of being produced by a major New York dance Venue.
Exposure to me as a choreographer and to the other dancers in the work.
The chance to meet other choreographers and dancers in the community.
The potential to perform on the NYLA stage if we have an injured or absent dancer -- if such catastrophe arises.
Experience learning from and being a part of a family of artists and performers who are all kind, generous, supportive and brilliant.
Please Contact Vanessa Anspaugh with the following:
A CV or Bio of your dance training and or performance experience (this can also be inside of an academic context)
A brief email/statement telling me about yourself and why you would be a good fit for the company
A photo or link to any dancing online that you might have (but not required)
