CALL FOR PERFORMERS

 

CALL FOR PERFORMERS FOR “UNITED WE SOCK” AN INTERDISCIPLINARY PERFORMANCE AT GOVERNORS ISLAND AS PART OF FIGMENT.

JUNE 9TH& 10TH, 2012

Monica with MoveSchemer is looking for participants for United We Sock, an interdisciplinary performance that includes dance and spoken-word poetry. We are looking for two kinds of performers:

POET/PERFORMERS:As a reader/ performer, you will have havethe choice to participatein the theatrical aspects of the work and/or showcase yourself as a poet.

DANCERS/PERFORMERS: With various levels of experience in modern/improv/contemporary dance.ALL AGES, ALL SIZES. As a dancer you will be learning a modern dance choreography and will have the opportunityto performit and variations of within the performance. Extensive dance training is not necessary to participate.

SCHEDULE:

Poets
Mandatory Rehearsal: Wednesday, June 6th from 7:30 to 10:00pm.
Shows (AT LEAST ONE IS REQUIRED):June 9th and 10th – Time commitment 11am to 6pm each day. Snacks will be provided.

Dancers
One of two rehearsals is required: Friday, June 1st from 6pm to 9:00pm AND/OR Saturday, June 2nd from 2:30 to 5:30pm.
Mandatory Rehearsal: Wednesday, June 6th from 6:30 to 10:00pm.
Shows (ONE AT LEAST IS REQUIRED):June 9th and 10th – Time commitment 11am to 6pm. Snacks will be provided.

There is no monetary compensation. However, you will be exposed to a great deal of networking opportunities and exposure as Figment includes over 30 different multidisciplinary works. Remember, the more you performthe more people you’ll get to meet, and the more you will be showcased!
