Jose Limon Dance Foundation Internship

 

THECOMPANY
The Jose Limon Dance Foundation is an internationally recognized non-for-profit organization based in New York City. The organization has two wings consisting of the Limon Institute - teaching the Limon technique and setting Jose Limon's choreographic works world wide; and the Jose Limon Dance Company, an international touring company acclaimed for its dramatic expression, technical mastery and expansive, yet nuanced movement.

Founded in 1946 by Jos Limn and Doris Humphrey, the Company is now led by Carla Maxwell, who worked closely with Limn before becoming Artistic Director in 1978. The Company’s repertory, which balances classic works with commissions from contemporary choreographers, is of an unparalleled breadth, creating unique experiences for audiences around the world.

SUMMERINTERNSHIPOPPORTUNITIES
The Jose Limon Dance Foundation seeks administrative interns for the Summer of 2012. Interns will work closely with leading arts managers in the dance field learning all aspects of business for dance including: fundraising, marketing, finance, production, and community partnerships. The internship will prepare you for career advancement in the dance field and will include a mentoring session and evaluation at the end of the Summer. Successful candidates will:

- Be a recent college graduate, or college student with administrative and/or office experience

- Be able to work in close partnership with a supervisor and work independently

- Be familiar with Word, Excel, facebook and Photoshop and be computer savvy

- Be organizationally minded with an eye for detail

- Have exposure to non-for-profit business and/or an understanding of the dance field

- Bonus if you speak Spanish fluently

Internships available between May 15th - September 14th, minimum commitment 5 weeks.
