Audition - BalaSole Dance Company

DAY/DATE: Sunday, March 24, 2013
TIME: 3:00-5:00PM
LOCATION: New York Live Arts, 219 West 19th Street, New York, NY 10011

REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Friday, March 22, 2013

BalaSole Dance Company is currently seeking high- calibered male and female solo dance artists (of all shapes, sizes, ages, ethnicities, styles and backgrounds) to perform their own 3-4 minute solo pieces, as well as ensemble pieces, for its July 2013 concert in New York City at the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater. An advanced proficiency in either modern, contemporary, jazz, or ballet is required.

BalaSole Dance Company is especially looking for uplifting solos/pieces for their concert seasons.

The first part of the audition will involve learning a short group combination. The second part will involve presentations of solo pieces (3-4 minutes maximum) to be performed in the July 2013 Concert. Please bring your costume and do not attend the above audition if your solo is unfinished. During the audition, emphasis will be given to artistry.

Self-choreographed solo pieces are preferred, but not required. Written permission must be obtained in advance from the choreographer if a solo piece is not self-choreographed.

Because of limited space, advance registration is mandatory and will be held at a first-come, first-served basis. Please complete, sign, and send your registration form by email (info@balasoledance.org) or by fax (646-530-8565). You can access the form by clicking the "REGISTRATION FORM" link in BalaSole's AUDITION page. Upon registration, send an electronic copy of your headshot, dance photo, bio, and rsum to info@balasoledance.org.

NOTES:

Each artist selected to perform in the concert is required to sign a contract as an independent contractor and must be available for rehearsals for one week prior to the concert. The written permission from the choreographer(s) must be furnished upon execution of the contract. Each artist must also have a valid legal documentation allowing employment in the United States. Headshots, dance photos, and bios of the selected artists will be posted immediately on the BalaSole Dance Company website.

At this time BalaSole Dance Company has not yet secured its Certificate of Eligibility from New York State to employ minors (anyone under the age of 18). Also, the company issues contracts only to artists who are able to work legally in the United States. However, artists 16-17 years of age, as well as artists who are non-U.S. residents, can participate in BalaSole Dance Company's concert seasons via our Emerging Artist Program (see item #3 in our "Programs" page).

BalaSole Dance Company is an inclusive dance company that does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, age, and physical attributes.
