About the Class

Class will explore the qualities of release and off-balance dancing while daring students to find disparate qualities of stillness and explosion. The movement phrases are made to allow the students to let go and to reveal their artistic sensibility while practicing their basic technique. The exercises focus on proper alignment and inner strength, while always involving the body as a whole in motion.

Founded in 2006, BODYART is a New York City based dance theatre company. Artistic Director Leslie Scott embraces the delicate, mysterious, awkward and sometimes fractured experiences of life as BODYART’s diverse and accomplished dancers juxtapose the ever-shifting nature of our emotions and interactions through photographs, paintings, sound scores, and movement. The company collaborates with composers, video artists, and designers to createthought provoking and entertaining multimedia shows.
