Downtown performing arts school Soul Arts Academy is seeking creative, talented, exuberant and passionate interns for its highly popular "Summer at Soul Arts" -  for children ages 4-12. Duties include assisting staff in caring and managing students, assisting in camp activities/games/art projects, light administrative and manpower duties. The camp runs for (6) 1-week session:

July 3- Aug 11 - Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 4:00 

We are currently accepting applications for:

Dance Teacher Apprentice 

Apprentices will work closely with assigned staff teachers to assist classes in a variety of dance disciplines, attend workshops in early dance pedagogy by invited specialists and participate in performances/workshops by visiting artists. In addition, apprentices will be given several guided opportunities to teach classes and receive constructive feedback and guidance.  Successful candidates will be expected to perform camp duties, assisting staff in managing and leading children, and assisting in camp activities/games. Position open to dance and education students; current dance teachers seeking employment at Soul Arts Academy are also encouraged to apply. When applying, please indicate your availability.

Summer Arts Interns 

Interns will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with some of New York's finest performer-educators, gain an intimate, firsthand experience of running a downtown summer program as well as participate in performances by visiting artists. We are seeking big spirited individual bursting with ideas and enthusiasm.  We want you to bring your passion for art, drama, singing, dancing with you!  Duties include administrative and manpower duties, marketing, publicity, and managing social media. When applying, please indicate dates of availability - candidates’ available for the program in it's entirety will be considered first 

Applicants MUST:

* Love and work well with children

* Be creative, unique, cheerful and outgoing

* Be punctual, responsible, resourceful and self-driven and able to think on their feet

* Love dance, drama, art, yoga, music, and soulful spirits!

* Be able to commit to at least 3 of the 6 sessions, with preference given to those who can commite to all 6

- Session 1: July 3-7

- Session 2: July 10-14

- Session 3: July 17-21

- Session 4: July 24-28

- Session 5: July 31-Aug 4

- Session 6: Aug 7-11
