THE DANCE CARTEL - Fall 2013 Auditions

THE DANCE CARTEL will hold auditions on MONDAY, JULY 29th, 3-7pm at DANY Studios.

We are seeking dancers for our fall season of performances. Dancers receive a stipend for each project.

SEEKING dancers both trained (contemporary, hip hop, ballet, jazz, roughly in that order) and raw/untrained (actors/singers/performers who know how to get DOWN and SWEAT). We HIGHLY RECOMMEND you come familiar with our work (particularly its immersive nature) - if you haven't experienced it live, get to know it online at thedancecartel.com.
Auditions will consist of a warm-up, learning choreographed phrases, and generating movement individually. Come ready to get loose, have fun, and meet a radical bunch of dancers. Individual skills (instruments, design, vogueing, martial arts, you name it) a plus, and sense of humor a must.

RSVP REQUIRED: write to thedancecartel@gmail.com with your resume and a headshot/danceshot if available. Let us know if you have any time constraints.

The Cartel has recently been featured in Time Out NY, the Huffington Post, New York Observer, This Week in New York, Backstage Magazine.

Mission:
The Dance Cartel is after a new brand of dance experience. Taking note of a dance community that often serves a niche audience, the Cartel creates dances that are vibrant, immersive and often participatory. Without sacrificing technical rigor or artistic ambition as a dance company, we endeavor to employ the social nature of dance, the charge of a party, and the sharpness of a music video to a fresh dance vocabulary that any Joe can get down with.
