What are we looking for?
Men and women of all ages, with strong ballet/jazz/modern foundations.  Adaptable dancers with the ability to lyrically release through the torso yet also execute quirky, minimalist styles.  We are looking for strong extensions, leaps, turns, musicality and performance expression.
In general, we are looking for dancers who are eager to commit to the technical, emotional and performance aspects of energized choreographers.  We're looking for people who can share our vision of bringing dance to the Boston community in a way that both entertains and challenges people, while contributing to the greater goal of getting people young and old together to share the arts as a celebration.  We'd like to see dancers who combine solid training with a desire to smash the 4th wall and really connect with the audience.

Commitment to the Community
Urbanity is committed to serving Boston area dance youth through the apprentice program and workshops in Boston Public Schools. Additionally, each year a portion of the proceeds of our annual review goes towards a college scholarship for a Boston area high school senior and dancer. Dancers interested in giving back have opportunities to contribute.

What makes us unique?
Noted by The Hub Review as “staking out a prominent piece of territory on the local dance map in its first program,” Urbanity Dancers have the chance to be a part of the fifth year for this exciting, growing company.

If you love to dance, perform, and learn choreography - if without dance, something in your life is missing - if you want to join a supportive group and get back or maintain your dancing shape - if you have a dream to create - if your heroes include Mia Michaels, Alvin Ailey, or Jiri Kylian - if you find yourself dancing in your living room to Seal, Sia, Imogen Heap, or whatever happens to be on the radio... then Urbanity Dance may be a good fit for you.

Our company is comprised of dancers fully committed to respecting and supporting one another. All members’ opinions are valued, respected, and heard.  We want to acknowledge the joy when we dance and in turn share this joy with the community.  We hope to inspire our audience to go home and dance!  We want to “give back” - we hope to serve our community and perform when possible at community events and fundraisers.
