Work Study Positions at Mark Morris Dance Center

 

The Mark Morris Dance Group is seeking Work/Study applicants to assist with the duties of the Front Desk and The Store at The Mark Morris Dance Center.

 

The Work/Study Program is essential to the Mark Morris Dance Group and our ability to welcome and assist the many visitors of the Center. As a Work/Study participant, you serve as the first point-of-contact to almost 2,000 Dance Center visitors each week and work as a customer service representative, providing support for our daily programs and services.

 

A successful candidate will be personable, patient, and able to operate and respond in a rapid-fire environment while remaining calm and collected. MMDG is looking for candidates who complement the hard-working, friendly, and supportive environment at the Center.

 

Benefits Unlimited free and discounted Dance and Fitness classes: All 2 hour and some 1.5 hour long classes are $3. All other classes are free. More details available at Orientation. Access to discounted studio space: MMDG has seven fully equipped studios for rent Monday-Saturday each week. Work/Study students qualify for subsidized rate during tenure. 50% off MMDG Master Classes, subject to availability.

 

Responsibilities

 

Front Desk

Welcome and orient visitors, maintaining front desk security including a visitor sign-in log for all vendors, staff guests, and Wellness Center clients. Work in tandem with Operations and School staff, serving as a liaison between students, renters and staff. Communicate information on all MMDG programs, classes and services to visitors. Sign-in adult students for class, upholding MMDG standard of customer service. Answer MMDG telephone line and route calls. Assist with additional tasks as needed by Operations and School staff.

 

The Store

Sell MMDG merchandise and dancewear in The Store at the Mark Morris Dance Center. Assist with bi-annual inventory of Store merchandise. Assist with additional tasks as needed by Store Manager and Operations staff.

 

Qualifications

Reliable and punctual Interest in working with people of all ages, from toddlers to seniors Ability to act with diplomacy and patience in a busy environment Flexibility and adaptability when serving the day-to-day needs of the Center Mature, polished, polite, friendly manner General knowledge of Microsoft Office and experience working with point of sale software preferred

 

 

Schedule

·         Minimum 12 week commitment/ One 4 hour shift per week
