You can help 10,000 dancers make it to Broadway, and make an entire city cheer!
Imagine 10,000 people of all colors, sizes, ages and rhythms dancing down Broadway to a city Park for a 4 hour free festival. There over 50 different groups representing over 40 styles of dance perform on 3 stages and in various sites around the park.
It happens every year, a week before Memorial Day, and you can help make it so! And as much as we'd love to have you in the Parade and Festival, we'd really love to have you in with us.
Searchng for some passionate self-motivated people to take on leadership roles as we plan for the 2014 NY Dance Parade & Festival. As an all-volunteer (with stipends) organization we look just like this life-celebrating event. We can't stay still, and if you can spare 3-5 hours a week we urge you to join this dynamic and incredibly diverse organization! Right now, we're especially looking for:
2-3 PARADE GROUP LIAISONS
You'll recruit, communicate with, and coordinate individuals and dance groups participating in the parade. You may be interested in a particular style, ethnicity or area of dance. An active presence in any NYC dance scene is helpful, but not necessary, as you'll soon help us reach out to the dancers you want to bring in.
1 STAFF & VOLUNTEER RECRUITMENT
You'll get the best people for the job! Involves representing the parade at fairs, festivals, symposia and networking opportunities and matching volunteers skills with the appropriate committees.
2 DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATES & FUNDRAISERS
You'll help us raise the funds we need to put on the parade, Festival and other events such as the dance component of the Winter's Eve tree lighting cevent at Lincoln Center. This can include grant writing, securing sponsorships, providing leads, and planning events.
3 MARKETING, PR & PROMOTIONS PROFESSIONALS
You'll help us get the word out about the parade! This can include anything from writing press releases to strategizing for our street team.
3-4 PARADE & FESTIVAL PRODUCTION
From curation to stage management to sound and video production and tech.
Up to 20 DAY OF PARADE VOLUNTEERS
People to help us with all the tasks that need to be done on May 17, 2013, from registration check-in to Parade Spacers and Spotters, to extra production staff.
Technical and professional skills necessary for some positions. Most of all, we need people with a positive attitude who know how to or would be willing to work as members of a team, and thrive in an atmosphere of diversity and cooperation.
