Audition for JD/dansfolk

 
Audition 1/25 3-5pm Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance--BAAD! 6 Train to Zerega Avenue www.bronxacademyofartsanddance.org JD/dansfolk, an award-winning Bronx-based modern dance company, seeks dancers for 2014. Rehearsals will be weekend evenings in the Bronx and Manhattan, Feb-May, with performances May-June. Average 3-5 hours a week of rehearsal. Performance stipend with probable rehearsal stipend as well. Shows will be at the Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance--BAAD!, a community theater in the Bronx run by former Bill T. Jones dancer Arthur Aviles Artistic Director Jessica Danser is creating a new dance-theater piece about gender identity, death, ritual, and personal histories. Dancers must be comfortable with emotionally charged work. Ability to sing and/or act a plus, but not necessary. A dance background in classical modern dance (i.e. Graham, Horton, Limon) as well as urban and contemporary styles preferred. Looking for versatile dancers who are comfortable engaging in a positive, supportive collaborative process. Looking for diversity: dancers of color, all body types, androgynous dancers, and queer artists all encouraged to audition. Current students who can meet the rehearsal requirements are welcome to apply. Please RSVP to the audition by sending an email with resume, photo, and link to reel if applicable.
