Artistic Director/CEO Ballet Kelowna

The Artistic Director/CEO will:

·       Develop long-term artistic vision, maintain artistic focus and direct programming

·       Select the repertoire for upcoming Season, and plan and implement the season tour

·       Choreograph and commission new works from innovative Canadian choreographers

·       Direct remounts and rehearsals and conduct company class

·       Supervise artistic and technical aspects of productions and tour

·       Contract and supervise artistic, technical and future education staff

·       Play an integral part in high-level fundraising with the Board including developing earned income streams such as Master Classes and an Aspirant Program

·       Participate in essential conferences and meetings

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

·       Extensive ballet training and performance history including choreographic training and teaching experience

·       Experience in overseeing company productions and educational outreach

·       Familiarity with the local, provincial, national, international dance and integrated arts scene

·       Exceptional organization, promotion and communication skills

·       Ability to prioritize and work effectively under pressure

·       Ability to work effectively with a board of directors as well as independently

·       Excellent fundraising ability

·       Understanding of not-for-profit policies and funding requirements

Artistic Director/CEO Application Requirements

 

·       A cover letter and resume outlining your interest and your unique qualifications for the role

·       Sample concert program(s) or season brochure(s) (no more than three) from within the past three years documenting your choreography or performance

·       A current list of works you’ve choreographed, highlighting works that are appropriate for an ensemble like Ballet Kelowna

·       A minimum of three professional references, including contact information (name, affiliation,

telephone number, email address, postal address) as well as their relationship to you

·       A letter of support from an expert in the field if you are or have been a professional dancer currently engaged in a career transition and are seeking a position as an Artistic Director/CEO
