Your Move: Hudson County's Modern Dance Festival

Your Move welcomes a wide range of movement performance including modern and post-modern dance, physical theater, dance-theater, improvisational performance, dance films, and more. Choreographers are invited to submit one movement-based piece (no more than 10 minutes in length) for consideration.  The entry piece can either be an existing dance, or a proposal for new work. A written proposal plus two other existing work samples must be included for new proposals or one sample for existing. *See details below about submitting new work.

Applications are due no later than MIDNIGHT on May 17, 2015 Accepted choreographers will be notified by mid-July. Performances are October 22-25, 2015, with each choreographer/company offered two performance slots over the three-day period. Choreographers are given their performance slots upon acceptance. Tech times are Sunday Oct. 18th – Wednesday Oct. 21st. Tech times are assigned at the time of acceptance and need to be confirmed by the choreographer in order to finalize the acceptance.

This festival is meant to inspire connectivity. Accepted Choreographers are expected to take an active role in the entire production, by promoting the show and his/her participation in it through social media, ticket sales, word of mouth, flyer and poster distribution. Accepted artists must communicate promptly with the Choreographer Liaison about tech needs and piece development updates, particularly if the work is still under development.

About the space: DeBaun Center for Performing Arts. DeBaun is a stunning proscenium theater located on Stevens Institute of Technology campus in downtown Hoboken. The stage space is a sprung marley floor, approximately 20 ft deep by 30 ft across. The theater offers a narrow crossover, wings, and projection capabilities. DeBaun is accessible by major public transportation and is an easy commute from New York City.
