Chen Dance Center's NEWSTEPS Series provides production support, rehearsal space, showcase opportunities and an honorarium to emerging choreographers.  An Open Call-In will be held on Septmber 18th, with auditions on Oct 5 & 6. Selected choreographers will be presented January 15-17, 2015. 

Each choreographer may propose up to 10 minutes of work for the series. All works must be NEW or IN-PROGRESS and should not be performed in New York City three months prior to, or after, the newsteps performances. Arrangements must be made in advance for pieces having special technical needs or requiring clean-up. 

AUDITION AND APPLICATION 

NO fees required for choreographers who call (212) 349-0126 on Thursday, September 18 at 1:00 PM for an audition slot and application for either Sunday, October 5th OR Monday, October 6th. The completed application from the choreographer must be received by Monday September 29th. At the audition, each choreographer may present up to 7 minutes of work, with the remaining time left for discussion with the panel.
