Booking Dance Festival Internship/Associate Position

Jodi Kaplan & Associates is seeking an Associate for the Booking Dance Festival. With three annual festivals (Jazz @ Lincoln Center in January, Bryant Park in the summer and the Edinburgh Booking Dance Festival in August) this is an entry-level position with much room for growth within the company. The position requires a 10-hour/wk commitment from Oct 15th, 2014 - Sept 15th, 2015. The position will start as an internship and culminate in Edinburgh as a Festival Associate. Ideal candidates should be interested in long term commitment, detail oriented, and self-motivated. Preferred additional skills are arts management and/or event coordination as well as marketing and social media. Interest and a working knowledge of the field of dance is also important.

Director Jodi Kaplan also consults with both established and newly formed dance companies in developing stronger artistic programming and performing engagements. Since 1993, JK&A has booked tours for dance companies in South America including Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Guatemala; and in Europe including Turkey, Germany, and Spain; and throughout the USA including long-term residencies in New Orleans and Chicago.

JK&A books a high profile Main Roster of top dance companies. It also provides conference representation to a wonderfully diverse Boutique Roster of dance companies. With offices in Soho, JK&A contracts regularly with The Joyce Theater and the World Financial Center in New York City, the Annenberg Center in Philadelphia and has booked performances at hundreds of theaters in the USA including the Kennedy Center, Jacob’s Pillow, and the American Dance Festival. 
JK&A is an active member of Dance/USA, Western Arts Alliance, APAP and ISPA.

JK&A has also run marketing seminars at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters, participated in panel discussions with The Joyce Theater and established the Ready To Book workshop series at The Field in New York City.

About the Festival

The booking DANCE FESTIVAL is the brain-child of Producer Jodi Kaplan, born with the intention of creating a cultural exchange between performing artists and international communities. The Festival occurs annually in Edinburgh during The Fringe and at different locations around the globe, continually bridging dance artists and audiences worldwide. Through both performances and educational outreach, the festival offers underserved dance companies the opportunity to expand their visibility to a global scale.
