Dance Teaching Artist  for Elementary Aged Children

Innovative after school program seeks Teaching Artist  for school serving children ages 5-11 in Bushwick, Brooklyn. Teaching Artists supervise and teach movement to a group of twenty students incorporating literacy in the widest sense of the word.

We are looking for versatile and flexible teachers who are open to frequent feedback on their classroom management and lesson plans, and who are excited to be a part of a creative team. We are interested in teachers who can introduce the students to various movement techniques and cultural dance forms as well as composition and creative movement. The ideal candidate will possess excellent classroom management.  Strong, sensitive and professional communication skills are a must as well as a good sense of boundaries between the personal and professional. Teaching artists must have a culturally sensitive approach to working with diverse populations. Applicants must have experience working with youth. Bilingual Spanish/English Strongly Preferred.

Teachers work 21 hours per week including meeting and planning time.
(Monday -Thursday from 2:15pm-6pm and Fridays 12pm-6pm).
