WE INVITE ARTISTS TO APPLY TO ALL OVER WESTBETH  - WESTFEST 2015 SITE-SPECIFIC PROGRAM.

The festival has two distinct programs - WestFest Top Floor, at the Martha Graham Theater and All Over Westbeth, our exciting site specific program. Artists interested in applying to All over Westbeth, please see information below. 

WestFest All over Westbeth / Application deadline is January 15, 2015.

Performances: May 2-3 from 2PM-4:30PM

Calling creative choreographers interested in investigating possibilities of modifing dance through the use of alternative spaces. Each artist will be assigned a unique space in and around the Westbeth building in which they will have the opportunity to rehearse and build a dance. We ask that artists create 3-4 minutes dance that can be performed multiple times for groups of audience. On the day of the show groups of audience members will be guided from site to site to see the dances all over the building. Past sites have included Westbeth’s inner and outer courtyards, long hallways, spiral staircases, the gallery space, the rooftop and the Martha Graham Studio Theater.

We require choreographers to be at all of the following meetings, rehearsals as well performance dates listed bellow.  Please note that as Westbeth is a residential building you may only rehearse in your site during designated rehearsal times.

REQUIRED MEETINGS/ REHEARSALS

*Saturday, February 21, 1-3 PM organizational meeting at Westbeth (sites will be assigned)

*Saturday, March 28, 1-5 PM first on site rehearsal

*Saturday, April 18, 1-5 PM second on site rehearsal (the completed version of your piece will be timed for the tour)

*Performance:  Saturday and Sunday May 2-3 2-4:30PM

 

SELECTED ARTISTS WILL RECEIVE:

*An opportunity to present site-specific work in a inovative space full of history.

*Two (2) site-specific performances on Saturday May 2 to Sunday May 3, 2015. 

*Publicity and postcards for the event

*Eligibility to book rehearsal in the Martha Graham Studio Theater at a discounted rate of $10/hour

STEP 1 - Pay the $25 application fee via PayPal. Note that one application fee is required for each application you submit. Choreographers can apply with as many works for Top Floor, and projects for Site Specific as they want. 

STEP 2 - Complete the application form in reference to the program you want to apply TopFloor or All over Westbeth. Please include a link to a video sample via online source (such as Youtube or Vimeo). Work Samples must be at least 3 continuous minutes in length and be of the proposed work. Minimal cuts/edits are preferred, and rehearsal video of the proposed work is acceptable.
