I am collaborating with a Queens-based visual artist Roshani Thakore to create a dance component to her recent project, MOVE WITH ME.  We're going to show a works-in-progress on Thursday, February 5th 7pm at Gibney Dance as part of a line-up for National Choreography Month (NACHMO), and we decided we need two more dancers for the project.  Must be open and strong with improvisation and partnering.

MOVE WITH ME was created from 167 immigrants' interviews who settled in Queens, and they were each photographed embodying a gesture or movement of personal empowerment from their journey.  Roshani and I are abstracting the concept of creating space for oneself, cultural identity, and relating to a new collective/community.

Since this is a very short and immediate time frame for this showing, rehearsals are a little various:

Thurs 1/22, 7-9pm
Sat 1/24, 3-5pm
Sun 1/25, 3-5pm
Thurs 1/29, 6:30-8:30
Sat 1/31, 3-5pm
Sun 2/1, 10am-12pm

With the structure we've created for the work, it could be doable if you weren't able to make all rehearsals if absolutely necessary.  We aren't able to pay for this stage of the process, but we will be deeply grateful for your dedication to this meaningful endeavor!
