ARTIST CALL for upcoming collaborate:create Residency!

CALL FOR NYC ARTISTS:   April-May 2015 Residency

 

PHOTOGRAPHERS, PERFORMING ARTISTS, VISUAL ARTISTS, WRITERS, MUSICIANS, DANCERS, FILMMAKERS, ACTORS, DIRECTORS, and MORE

 

Now in its 6th cycle, collaborate:create is a 3-week, process-driven residency that brings artists together across disciplines to create unfiltered new works focusing on one socially relevant theme. collaborate:create exists to create in the now because of the now.  We aim to uphold our social responsibility as artists by utilizing our forms of expression to address current issues in our society. The residency culminates in a one-evening public exhibition.

 

Artist interviews with be conducted Monday April 6th between 6:00-9:00pm at Gibney Dance Center, 890 Broadway at 19th st, 5th floor, Studio 7.  We are seeking a group of 15-18 artists.

 

collaborate:create is in residence at Center for Performance Research, 361 Manhattan Ave. in Brooklyn.   Artists MUST be able to attend all mandatory meeting dates:

Sunday April 19, 5:00-10:00pm

Sunday April 26, 5:00-10:00pm

Sunday May 3, 5:00-10:00pm

Sunday May 17-- EXHIBITION (artists set up/tech 12-5pm, exhibition opens 6-9pm)

 

collaborate:create is free for participating artists, and this year is also running simultaneously in Seattle.  NYC artists will have the opportunity to collaborate with one another across disciplines, connect with Seattle artists, use free and subsidized work space, and present their work to the public in a unique environment that highlights process and fosters the audience-artist relationship.
