Calling all advanced tap dancers age 12-19

Are you passionate about tap dance?  

Consider auditioning for the Tap City Youth Ensemble! 

*learn choreography & technique from leading tap artists in the field today
*explore tap history and learn classic dances from the masters
*develop improvisation skills & a deeper understanding of music
*dance & perform with live music
*perform in NYC venues, Tri-State area venues, and beyond

We are taking video audition submissions now for the 2015-16 seasons. 

Dancers need to be available on Sundays (specific schedule TBA)

from mid-September 2015 through mid-June 2016.

The Tap City Youth Ensemble is a project of the American Tap Dance Foundation.  The ensemble features dancers ages 12-19, from throughout the metropolitan NYC and surrounding areas or Long Island, Connecticut, upstate New York and New Jersey. 

The Ensemble rehearses weekly on Sundays with Ensemble Director and choreographer Susan Hebach and TCYE faculty Claudia Rahardjanoto and Tamii Sakurai, and works with selected guest teachers and choreographers including Chloe Arnold, Brenda Bufalino, Barbara Duffy, Michelle Dorrance, Derick K. Grant, Lisa LaTouche,  Michela Marino-Lerman, Max Pollak, Randy Skinner, Tony Waag and Margaret Morrison. The ensemble has new contemporary works as well as classic tap repertory by Bill "Bojangles" Robinson, James "Buster" Brown, Eddie Brown, Charles "Honi" Coles and the Copasetics. The Ensemble has been featured in articles in Dance Teacher Magazine, Dance Spirit Magazine and Time Out New York Kids and appeared on television on NY 1. and Nickelodeon's METV.


TCYE performs in a variety of New York area, from informal showings, promotional events, school shows, hospitals, outdoor concerts and professional performance venues. Performance highlights include: Rhythm in Motion, Celebrating Gregory-ATDF Gala, Symphony Space,  Tap City, the New York Tap Festival, the Vancouver Tap Festival, Jazz at Lincoln Center in collaboration with MSJA, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 2010, Amateur Night at the Apollo, Career Transitions for Dancers Gala at NYC's City Center, Lincoln Center Library for Performing Arts, and more! TCYE is a tuition based program, for information on fees, click here to be directed to the website. Scholarships are available through the ATDF Gregory Hines Youth Scholarship Fund. Application can be downloaded from this website by clicking on Gregory Hines Youth Scholarship Fund. All students who want a scholarship for the 2013-2014 year must submit a new scholarship application.
