PRETTY CREATIVES INTERNATIONAL CHOREOGRAPHIC COMPETITION
An Opportunity for New Voices in Dance

Northwest Dance Project announces a call for entries for our Pretty Creatives International Choreographic Competition to identify two emerging choreographers who will have the opportunity to create an original work.

Northwest Dance Project is committed to working with artists of diverse experiences and backgrounds, and utilizes our Pretty Creatives International Choreographic Competition as a means of helping to develop new voices in dance. Previous winners include Maurice Causey, Loni Landon, Lauren Edson, Pedro Dias, James Gregg, Marina Mascarell, Gregory Dolbashian, Hanna Kiel, Robyn Mineko-Williams, Alex Soares, Simone Orlando, Yin Yue, Eric Handman and Lesley Telford.

Selected choreographers will participate in a six-day summer residency from July 13 to 18, 2015 during our innovative LAUNCH Project. During the residency period, selected choreographers will have six hours of creative time per day and an open forum to develop and create new choreographic material. An presentation of the resulting “works-in-progress” or completed pieces will be shown at Lincoln Performance Hall on July 18 / 2015 at 7:30PM. This presentation is open to the public. Choreographers will work with all our visiting LAUNCH dancers, but choreography can be developed on a smaller group of dancers.

Northwest Dance Project’s Artistic Director, Sarah Slipper, will help guide the Pretty Creatives residency.

The residency includes:
- creative honorarium
- 6 days of rehearsal time with dancers
- travel to and from Portland, per diem & accommodation
- public presentation in theater setting
