Communications/Research Intern

Communications/Research Intern Petra

InnerCity Projects (ICP) is seeking a Communications/Development intern. The intern will work directly with the InnerCity Projects core team: visual artist Jo Wood-Brown and dancer/performance artist Miriam Parker.

InnerCity Projects is in a period of growth. The intern will play a major role in connecting ICP to relevant artists and arts organizations. Aspects of the position will include social media outreach and creation of innovative content for ICP’s Tumblr page, drafting and editing of language for ICP’s main website, and creation of press releases. The intern may also research grants, residencies, and exhibition calls and opportunities. Other aspects of the position are open to the intern's interests. This position is surrounding ICP’s inclusion in the 2015 Vision Festival at the Judson Church in July.

Regular discussions and work sessions at the studio (located in the Lower East Side on Broadway) will be an essential aspect of the internship position so that collaboration becomes a part of the work.

The ideal candidate will have experience working for an artist, art gallery, museum, or other arts related endeavor. Creative approaches to this requirement are also accepted, as we intend to help the intern learn and grow into the position.

Candidate should have strong writing and editing skills. Proficiency with Macintosh software/programs and Microsoft Office, and experience using Adobe Photoshop. Experience using social media as a tool for outreach, as well as experience crafting and editing creative content, interviews, and writing for blogs, tweets, Facebook updates, or other arts related endeavors is a plus. Overall, we are looking for an individual who is detail oriented, an effective self-starter, and will be excited to work as part of a team.

Duration:
We hope to hire an intern to begin immediately. Availability through Summer 2015 preferred, however, we will consider applicants available only through Spring, or those candidates wishing to begin an internship in the Fall.

About InnerCity Projects:
http://www.innercityprojects.net/
InnerCity explores the state of being in-between destinations and how our mind and body can be present in two very different places at the same time. Artists Miriam Parker and Jo Wood-Brown access this phenomenon within the architecture of the urban environment, combining visual, choreographic, film and sonic elements that overlap poetically and metaphorically to create a world between people's dreams.

About Miriam Parker:
Miriam Parker is a New York City based dancer/performance artist, and arts organizer. She has lived in Europe and Israel, at which time she worked with Choreographers Amanda Miller, William Forsynthe, Ohad Naharin, and The Saarbruken Ballet. In this past year Miriam has danced with choreographer Sally Silver, Yoshiko Chuma, the School of Hard Knocks, and Andrea Miller Gallim Dance Company. Miriam Parker’s work has been presented in numerous Vision Festival Events in New York and Paris as well as at Art Under the Bridge Festival.
