Darcy Lyons is creating a new dance installation inspired by exposed brick and a recurring thought in her mind: “people as walls, walls as people.”

This piece will explore how and why humans construct, strengthen, weaken and/or deconstruct actual and figurative walls personally, interpersonally, in a larger community, globally and historically. How do these walls help or hinder the human mind and the physical land of the world? How do our bodies act as walls? And how do we relate to walls better than other humans at times in our lives (if we do)?

WALLS will premiere in the Philly Fringe Festival September 2015 (Dates TBD by June 1)
The installation performances will take place in a beautiful, large loft space in Center City, Philadelphia. The space is 1200 square feet and 13 foot ceilings with nice hardwood floors. The dancers will be moving into and away from the exposed brick wall covering an entire side of the space, as well as moving in the space.
