2015 Suite Summer Festival: Emerging Choreographers and Companies Open Call

2015 Suite Summer Festival: Emerging Choreographers and Companies Open Call Arkady Sandoval

In-Sight Dance Company’s 6th Annual Suite Summer Festival will again be held at Socrates Sculpture Park. This festival is unique as it is SITE SPECIFIC in the park.

We are looking for dance companies and dance artists that are dedicated to creating high quality artistic work and are interested in connecting with community by creating and performing at the beautiful Socrates Sculpture Park this summer. You may create a new work specifically for the park OR retrofit an existing piece to be performed in the park.

The purpose of this festival is to create a performance over labor day weekend that will fill the entire park with dance! We have truly enjoyed rehearsing and creating at Socrates Sculpture park and we are excited to share this inspiring process with dance artists from around New York City.

Requirements:

Each participating company is required to:

1 - Commit to perform in the festival by July 15, 2015 by filling out the letter of agreement.
2 - Create or adapt a work that reflects the park and the art that is installed (see Choosing your site slideshow). This work should be between 4 to 7 minutes.
3 - Hold at least 1 rehearsal in the park between July 1st and September 2nd. (No fee to rehearse in the park)
4 - Attend tech rehearsal on Thursday, September 3rd.
5 - Perform in two shows over labor day weekend (September 4th – 7th)
6- Emerging Artists are required to have In-Sight Dance Company's Artistic Director or Assistant Artistic Director attend one rehearsal in the park prior to August 23rd.

Apply by filling out this form.

What do we get out of this experience?
1 - The opportunity to serve your New York City community alongside like-minded dance artists.
2 - Full production and promotional support for the performance.
3 - Support beyond the festival. This includes:
* A one-on-one coaching session with artistic director, Leeanne M. G-Bowley. Ms G-Bowley teaches and coaches nonprofit leaders nationwide. Topics include board development, proposal writing, fundraising planning, fiscal sponsorship, career development, nonprofit leadership,

* Upon fulfillment of the letter of agreement, you will receive a letter of support from In-Sight Dance Company that can be used for funding and partnership proposals.
