Chen Dance Center, based in New York City, is a dynamic non-profit organization that provides for the cultural vitality of the performing arts community through its three affiliates: H.T. Chen & Dancers, The School, and The Theater. All of CDC’s programs and activities reflect its ongoing mission to provide moving experiences in Asian-American arts and contemporary dance through artistic creation, arts education, and presentation. Established in 1978, the organization has a permanent residence in an 1891 renovated school building with three studios in the heart of Manhattan’s Chinatown, and an auxiliary studio in NOHO.
Chen Dance Center seeks a full-time Development Manager to join its small staff. Reporting to and working with the Associate Director and Artistic Director, the Development Manager must have excellent writing skills, the ability to work independently on deadlines, and be highly organized.
The incumbent is expected to increase the organization’s donor base and meet the goals of a recently received challenge grant.
Responsibilities:
Develop communication tools to capture the vision and impact of Chen Dance Center programs.
Working with Associate Director, staff and board on planning and implementing fundraising strategies and activities.
Writing and preparation of grant proposals, solicitation letters, marketing materials such as brochures, annual report and web content.
Assist in the cultivation of individual, foundation and corporate support.
Prepare and manage fundraising events.
Manage donor acknowledgements and engagement
Researching prospects
Set-up and manage Salesforce CRM
Qualifications
B.A. Degree and at least three years of professional development experience in a non-profit cultural organization, familiarity with fundraising databases, excellent writing and communication skills.
Chinatown office, full-time Monday through Friday, 10-6. This position requires occasional weekend and evening hours in connection with special events and performances.
