FCCA Seeks Teaching Artists

Hours: Part-time/Seasonal on a contract basis

FCCA seeks several professional teaching artists to join our Education Department Teaching Artist Roster. Our current hiring needs include:
A dance teaching artist with a strong background in West African Dance or stepping.
Teaching artists of any arts discipline that specialize in working with senior populations.
Qualifications:
BFA/BA in Arts, Education or related field (Master’s preferred).
Teaching experience, especially in NYC schools.
Familiarity with the Common Core, NYS Learning Standards and NYC Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts.
Ability to commit to length of a residency (at least one full day of teaching each week plus planning sessions, reflection meetings, and organizational meetings).
Proactive about personal development and open to evaluation and feedback.
Strong collaborator.
Organized with strong time-management skills.
Curriculum development experience.
Engages students effectively with varying learning styles and knowledge levels.
Strong classroom management skills.
Skilled in assessing and documenting student work.

In the 1990s FCCA acquired and renovated historic Flushing Town Hall (1862 Historic Landmark) on behalf of NYC, and operates the building as a thriving multi-disciplinary arts center.
