SOAK SUMMER LAB '15 FOR PROFESSIONAL DANCERS

SOAK SUMMER LAB '15 FOR PROFESSIONAL DANCERS Whitney Browne

SOAK SUMMER LAB ’15 is a practice in process intensive for advanced and professional dancers focusing on:

(1) RESEARCH

(2) METHODOLOGY

(3) REPERTORY to be REIMAGINED + DEVOURED by the INDIVIDUAL.

SOAK is for the experienced and critically conscious performer that is curious in de/constructing and applying their work beyond the convention of the proscenium. EQUALLY PHYSICAL + MINDFUL, this intimate workshop aims to remind and reconsider the dancing body and its slippery, realistic relationship to the architecture of time, space and dually occupying bodies on the contemporary “stage”. Kneepads and layers to protect the shoulders are advised, as there will be a great deal of floor work.

SOAK will take place on Friday July 17 from 12 - 3pm at the Mark Morris Dance Center (Cole Studio).
