NATALIE JOHNSON DANCE presents: Life Translated Showcase

October 24th, 8pm, Lucid Body House theater. Please apply by Sept 10th.

Do you consider yourself a movement poet? Does your dance have a voice of its own? Is dance a way for you to unearth, challenge, and discover?

The Life Translated Showcase is an intimate performance comprised of works that use the physicality of dance to express a deeper question, commentary, or investigation.

We are looking for bold artists who use choreography to translate an aspect of life experience. Personal, narrative, abstract-- creative interpretations are welcome!!

Works in progress and completed works are both encouraged--nothing longer than 12 minutes please. The venue is a large, beautiful studio with 50 seats, 2 bathrooms, surround sound, and a sprung wood floor in excellent condition. Some lighting, but minimal. Each choreographer will be given 30 minutes to tech, as well as professional photographs of their piece.

After the show, all artists and event attendees are invited to join Natalie Johnson Dance for a drink at a nearby bar to celebrate, discuss, and joyfully mingle!

Natalie Johnson Dance is joyfully dedicated to a generous and open relationship with its community, and an unyielding loyalty to the movement art form. We seek to bring meaningful work to a wide audience through performance, teaching, and service, expanding our connections to people with love and passion.

Our dance is idiosyncratic, drawing from the artists’ histories, curiosities, imperfections and prowess. With choreography as honest as a diary entry, the audience gets to glimpse the human soul speaking through movement.
