The Assembly is requesting submissions of existing works from choreographers for its fifth season show, an evening of contemporary dance and/or dance theater work to be presented in Orange County, CA, in June 2016. 

MAKE OUR MOVES (FROM NEAR OR FAR) – Work by emerging or established choreographers for 3 to 6 dancers to be set, in person or remotely, on our company. Applicants may be based anywhere. Video footage of the complete work must be available, but edits may be made by the choreographer during the process of setting it. If working remotely, choreographer must be available to Skype during the rehearsal process. If working in-person, choreographer must be available to attend up to 10 hours of rehearsal, either intensively or throughout the process. (Exact schedule will be determined in the process of finalizing our selection or selections.) Costumes, lighting design, and other aspects of the work will be created by and for our company with input from the chosen choreographer. They will receive a stipend and their application fee will be reimbursed. Submissions may be up to 30 minutes in length.

We are seeking physically rigorous and inventive choreography that is suited to an intimate, non-proscenium dance space and that complements our company’s aesthetic.
