We are looking for experienced performers with a strong technical background and unique artistic voice. Contract runs Aug. 2016 - May 2017 with flexible scheduling.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

Smashworks Dance Collective, directed by choreographer Ashley McQueen, is a New York-based group of movers dedicated to the strengthening of artistic voice and experiential movement. Originally founded in St. Louis amidst performances presented by ANNONYArts, Smashworks relocated to New York City in 2015.

The company debuted at the Tiny Dance Festival of Brooklyn, and within the past year presented work in multiple venues and festivals, ranging from the Connelly Theatre in East Village to Green Space in Long Island City. Smashworks thrives off unique and intimate performance environments, creating space for audience/performer connections.

Through site-specific work inspired by the human experience, McQueen aims to create dance that reaches a broad range of art-seekers. Blending strong artistic voices with athletic, technically demanding movement, the collaborators of Smashworks define the tone of each piece with their innovative responses.
