Calling Artists for Brooklyn/Queens Community Garden Dance Festival

Calling Artists for Brooklyn/Queens Community Garden Dance Festival

New York City-based choreographers are invited to apply for the opportunity to participate in the Brooklyn/Queens Community Garden Dance Festival produced by Sans Limites Dance in partnership with the Brooklyn Queens Land Trust. This dynamic cultural activation of urban green spaces in Bushwick, Cambria Heights, Crown Heights, and Jamaica will take place over the course of three weekends in August 2016.

Sans Limites Dance is in the process of curating four unique dance performance programs rooted in an improvisational aesthetic that responds to the distinctive features of each garden and surrounding communities. We are seeking to present diverse traditions and styles, including contemporary, modern, hip hop, and folk dance. All pieces will be set to live musical accompaniment and can run the gamut from structured improvisation to fully choreographed works that can adapt to an improvised score. Choreographers and dancers residing in the four neighborhoods are especially encouraged to apply.

Performance dates and locations are as follows:

Saturday, August 13th at Grove Street Garden in Bushwick, Brooklyn
Saturday, August 20th at Merrick Marsden II Garden in Jamaica, Queens
Sunday, August 21st at Westbrook Garden in Crown Heights, Brooklyn
Saturday, August 27th at 227th Street Garden in Cambria Heights, Queens

Application Deadline: July 5th, 2016
