Position Summary

The ABT Certified School of Ballet at Rutgers University, an offering of the Mason Gross School of the Arts Extension Division, has a position open for a qualified ABT-NTC Certified Teacher for 2016-2017.

Position Description

-Support program objectives and teaching philosophy at all times.

-Model excellence in all aspects of your role and in your interaction with students, families, and

administration.

-Work closely with the Director of Ballet to develop a cohesive curricula aligned with the standards of the

ABT-NTC.

-Teach group classes and sustain student progress.

-Prepare students for performances, workshops, and auditions as appropriate, including presenting

students for ABT examinations.

-Initiate, facilitate, and moderate discussions, interaction and feedback with students and their families.

-Advise students on academic, curricula, and college & career issues.

-Keep abreast of developments in your field by reading current professional journals/websites, and

participating in professional forums and training opportunities.

-Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.

-Communicate effectively with parents, faculty, administration, and colleagues.

Position Qualifications & Requirements

At least 2 years of teaching experience utilizing the ABT National Training Curriculum and has successfully presented students for ABT Affiliate examinations. (If the candidate has not presented students for exams before, please provide a letter of recommendation from an ABT-Affiliate Teacher.)

Possess and maintain as appropriate all appropriate ABT NTC accreditation and training.

Experience choreographing on children.

Three professional references.

Demonstrated classroom/studio management skills.

Demonstrated patience with students and courtesy to colleagues.

Warm and approachable personality.

Must be a strong classroom leader.

Must have an affinity for working with children ages 4-10.

Outstanding communication skills (verbal, written).

Must pass a background check and complete Rutgers University Protection of Minors training.

Hours During Which Instruction Is Offered

The ABT Certified School of Ballet at Rutgers University offers classes on Saturday mornings and afternoons. Classes may include, but are not limited to, Pre-Primary, Primary A/B, Primary C, and Level 1B.
