ChoreoNova® Seeking Male Contemporary Dancer for Oct. 1 Performance

ChoreoNova® Seeking Male Contemporary Dancer for Oct. 1 Performance Kevin Michael Smith, © 2016 ChoreoNova®

ChoreoNova® is dedicated to using contemporary dance works and programs to inspire resilience.  The company performs regionally and produces innovative multidisciplinary and traditional works that make people feel.

We are looking for a male contemporary dancer to join our current company member for a performance in DUMBO Dance Festival.  “Coupled” has four vignettes that depict universal, magical love regardless of sexism, sexual preference, or gender identity. In “Autonomous Love,” the female shares partnering duties equally with the male.  Superior physical strength is overcome by inventive choreography. This dance sends an inclusive, gender-neutral message that reflects modern society.

We need a dancer who can make an audience live and breathe with him.  If this is you, then we look forward to hearing from you.

Specs: height 5'5''-5'11'', weight 125-155 lbs., slim build, any race or ethnicity, age 18-35 in appearance

You must have extensive partnering experience, acting ability (there is a kiss), and strong solo technique.  Work is very contemporary in nature and includes ballet, modern, and some swing partnering.  You must be able to do a walkover and roll up through your ankles.

Expected 18 hours of rehearsal in NYC, schedule TBD

Most likely Sept. 16-18

Tech, Friday, Sept. 30, 11am-5pm, Gelsey Kirkland Arts Center
