We dance, we shout, we raise a ruckus! We’re an all-volunteer, body positive, co-ed squad who cheer on Gotham Girls Roller Derby and we’re looking for new folks to join us for the 2017 season. Tryouts will be held ONE DAY only – Sunday, October 15th at 2pm SHARP.
 

The GGRD Jeerleaders are looking for new jeerleaders for our 2017 season. We cheer on the sidelines at games, do halftime shows and make the crowd feel welcome at our bouts. You should have some dance experience, but we are really looking for people who are enthusiastic about roller derby and love shaking what their mammas gave them.

Not into dance? Don’t have the time for rehearsals? We also have a limited number of slots for people who are interested in volunteering at our poster table and photobooth or becoming a mascot. Email us if you’re interested. You won’t have to audition, but we’d love to meet you in person.

Tryouts run around two hours so please be available through 4pm. You will learn part of a routine and meet the other jeerleaders as a group.
 

Email ggrdjeerleaders@gmail.com to RSVP and we’ll give you the address. The cost to tryout will be around $10 and will cover the rental of the space.
 

Wear comfortable clothes and sneakers and bring a bottle of water. We will have poms for you to use.
 

Jeerleader rehearsals are on Monday and Wednesday nights for the two weeks before the bouts, which are on Saturdays. We don’t have the 2017 schedule yet, but you can see 2015’s schedule here. Each team performs three to four times a year, plus we participate in events like the Mermaid Parade and GGRD’s parties. Jeerleaders are volunteers who pay their own way. We pay dues to cover rehearsal space and buy our own uniforms at the beginning of the year. We prefer jeerleaders who are over 21, but we will admit people who are turning 21 in 2017.
