OPEN CALL: Dancers for Performances at Socrates Sculpture Park

OPEN CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS FOR DANCE PERFORMANCE AT SOCRATES SCULPTURE PARK

Open call for volunteers for a performance series by choreographer Madeline Hollander, a 2016 Socrates Sculpture Park Emerging Artist Fellow, that opens September 25, 2016 at Socrates Sculpture Park, in Long Island City.

All are welcome to participate!
No dance/performance experience necessary.

Rehearsals will take place at Socrates Sculpture Park at various times throughout the week prior to the opening, from September 19th to 24th.

Performance Schedule: (Not required to participate in all performance dates)
September 25:  4-5 PM (OPENING Performance) 
October 15: 5:15-6:15 pm  
October 22: 5:00-6:00pm 
October 29: 5-6pm    

Madeline Hollander (b.1986, Los Angeles) is a New York based choreographer who works primarily with performance and video. Her work explores the formation of new body languages generated by the evolution of interface design, ergonomics, and mediated daily rituals. Hollander graduated from Barnard College, Columbia University in 2008 with a B.A. in Anthropology and a concentration in visual arts. Hollander has exhibited works at SIGNAL Gallery, NY; Movement Research at the Judson Memorial Church, NY; Untitled Art Fair, FL; Luxembourg & Dayan Gallery, NY; the Sculpture Center, NY; Jack Hanley Gallery, NY; Tina Kim Gallery, NY; The Kitchen, NY; Torrance Shipman Gallery, NY; & Human Resources, LA. Hollander has danced professionally with Los Angeles Ballet, CA & Angel Corella Ballet, Madrid, Spain and has been an artist in residence at Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture; Choreographic Coding Labs, UCLA; & Fountainhead Studios, Miami, FL. She is currently a recipient of the 2016 Socrates Sculpture Park Emerging Artist Fellowship.
