Awaken Dance Theater is a company of talented dancers, making bold statements on social and political issues through dance. 

We have a position open for an intern who is passionate about social justice and the art of dance.  You will join a team of 15 and work directly with Awaken’s Founder and Artistic Director to support the growth of the company. 

Interns will have an immersive experience in all aspects of operating a growing, mission-driven dance company.  Awaken performs approximately 20 times per year at venues throughout New York City.  

Requirements:

Current undergraduate or graduate student
Able to work 10-15 hours per week 
Available November 2016 through June 2017
Excellent written communication skills
Social media savvy
Experience with video and photography a plus
Organized and detail-oriented

This position is unpaid, with the potential for college credit.

Responsibilities:

Marketing
Keep company website up-to-date
Assist in the development of a marketing plan
Create posters and flyers
Create and send email blasts about upcoming performances, events, etc.
Social Media
Promote Awaken by regularly posting photos, videos, and company news across multiple social media platforms
Develop a plan to attract more followers and feedback on social media sites including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
Fundraising
Support creation and implementation of crowdfunding campaigns
Write solicitation and thank you letters
Research, write, and submit grant applications
Administrative support
Complete research and applications for showcases and performance opportunities
Maintain the company calendar - including members availability for specific events and performances, deadlines for grant or performance applications, payment deadlines, etc
Maintain donor database and mailing list in MailChimp
