Front Desk Associate

 

Reports to: Operations Manager

SUMMARY:

The Mark Morris Dance Center, home of the world-renowned Mark Morris Dance Group (MMDG) and located in the thriving Brooklyn Cultural District, is seeking a Front Desk Associate. This is a part-time 25 hour per week position reporting to the Front Desk and Operations Managers.

 

The Front Desk Associate’s primary responsibility is overseeing the Front Desk of the Dance Center, a vibrant hub serving over 4,000 visitors each week. This position is the first point of contact for all incoming calls and visitors, providing information about The School, Dance Center, Dance Group, Studio Rental, Wellness Center, and Community Education programs.  The Front Desk Associate serves as a representative of MMDG and plays an essential role within the Organization.

 

A successful candidate will be personable, patient, and able to operate and respond in a rapid-fire environment while maintaining a high standard of customer service to all MMDG constituents. MMDG is looking for someone who is a great communicator and complements the hard-working, friendly, and supportive environment at the Dance Center.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Dance Center

Communicate information on all MMDG programs, classes and services to visitors
Answer MMDG telephone line and route calls as necessary, troubleshooting visitor requests
Maintain Dance Center security including a visitor sign-in log for all vendors, renters, staff guests, and Wellness Center clients
Maintain proper appearance of the front desk area including inventory of brochures and other printed materials
Serve as a liaison between students, renters and administrative staff
Accept incoming mail and packages to the Dance Center
Serve as a Fire Guard for the Dance Center
Open and close the building

 

Rental

Oversee studio rental check-in utilizing EMS event management software
Support Rental Manager in booking rehearsal space, building rental invoices and processing payments
Assist with the needs of studio renters (climate control, accessories, keys)

 

Education

Supervise and process adult class sign in utilizing Counterpoint point of sale software
Respond to inquiries and process registrations for Children/Teen and Adult classes
Supervise Work/Study and assist with training

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to adapt to frequent changes
Interest in working with our Dance Center community (children, adults, and seniors from 2 to 92 years old)
Proficiency with MS Office, Google Drive required; experience with scheduling and POS software a plus
Ability to act with diplomacy and patience under pressure
Presents oneself in a mature, polished, polite, friendly manner
Willingness to complete Fire Guard Certification test and basic first aid/CPR training
Superb attention to detail and time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
Ability to act responsibly, reliably, and efficiently within an office environment
Two+ years of customer service and administrative experience preferred

 

SCHEDULE:

5 shifts per week, Monday-Saturday, to be determined based on current schedule and availability
May be asked to flex schedule depending on other staffing needs at the Center

 
BENEFITS & COMPENSATION:

Hourly wage:  $11-$12 per hour
Free dance classes at the Mark Morris Dance Center and access to the Wellness Center, MMDG’s exercise facility
