Jennifer Muller/The Works was founded in 1974 to support the vision and creativity of Jennifer Muller, creating new work and reaching the widest audience possible by performing and touring the Muller repertory in NYC, the US and abroad. The Works is deeply committed to mentoring creativity in all forms, teaching professionally-oriented students, conducting arts awareness and community outreach programs for adults and youth of all ages, and advocating relevance and appreciation of dance to promote the validity of individual expression and cross-cultural understanding.

About the company:

For 41 years, The Works has brought a fresh and passionate approach to dance/theater, bridging cultural boundaries and influencing social consciousness to advocate for positive change. Jennifer Muller creates exhilarating dances that are evocative, inspirational and engaging, applying a multi-disciplinary technique that weaves dance, theater and visual arts. The company has performed in 39 countries on 4 different continents, earning an international reputation as a unique cultural ambassador.

At home, The Works has established The Works Studio as the hub of its educational activity. With the dynamic and affirming spirit that is the core of The Works, the company reaches over 5,000 students annually, embracing a spectrum of ages and creating artists and audiences of the future.

For their time at the studio (generally 10-20 hours/week), interns will receive vital arts administration experience.  Academic credit is also available for students. While this internship is unpaid, there is strong potential to lead into a part-time job opportunity. Interns must be 18 years of age and live in New York/New Jersey.

The studio is located in Chelsea, Manhattan at 131 West 24th Street (between 6th and 7th Avenues) on the 4th floor. You may take the train to the 1, C, E, F, W, M, and R 23rd Street subway stations.
