of bones || hollye bynum is a live-performance, film, and event production company, specializing in dance, that creates opportunities for artists and viewers to connect through commonalities.
Ms. Bynum approaches the creation of movement with honesty and simplicity. In order to create choreographic content, she crafts movement by stemming from her own experiences and encourages her performers to conduct a similar investigation through the use of power in physical and mental awareness, the use of breath, and emotional, mental, and physical responses to past personal experiences.
of bones produces original and collaborative dance-film, film, and live-performance projects and events. The company believes in self producing their artistic work as well as seeing the visions of others to fruition. When producing events for of bones and artists, nationally and internationally, the company transforms environments and provides platforms for individuals to challenge their skills, create work, and share with a receptive audience in a safe space.
of bones values and offers the education of well-researched creation and production through the vehicles of lectures on dance film and production, contemporary-modern movement technique training, hands on experience via administrative internships and event production opportunities, and mentorship.
Interns will work closely with Artistic Director, Hollye Bynum and the of bones Administrative Team to plan and execute objectives as well as gain experience and knowledge pertaining to the inner workings of an emerging production company. Interns will help with grant writing, applications for festivals and residencies, planning for rehearsals, conferences, lectures, and masterclasses, website upkeep, general administrative support, etc. In addition, interns will help with the administrative workings of our upcoming productions, including the 2nd annual Boundless in Brooklyn: A 48 Hour Dance Film Contest.
Commitment:
- Ideally starting February 2, 2017 (or as soon as possible) through July 31, 2017
- 10 hours per week: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am - 3pm (Occasionally additional hours will be needed.)
*This internship is paid, and school credit is also available.
Requirements:
- Looking for a passionate, hard working, prompt, independent, and organized individual that will have the dedication and understand the responsibility it takes to work in this type of hands on environment.
- Must be Mac proficient and able to provide a laptop for office hours.
