Community Arts Partnerships Manager

 

Position Description

The Community Arts Partnerships Manager is responsible for all artistic, programmatic aspects of Ballet Hispánico’s Community Arts Partnerships program.  This includes partnerships with local and national schools and communities.  The position reports to the Artistic Director & CEO on matters of programmatic content and to the Company Manager on administrative and fiduciary oversight.

Ballet Hispánico is a cultural non-profit of the 21st Century whose mission and vision have made an indelible impact on the artistic, social, and cultural life of the nation.  From its origins as a dance school and community-based performing arts troupe in the early 1970’s, BH has become a world class institution.  Through its electric contemporary performances, its School of Dance, and its signature community engagement programs, Ballet Hispanico is now poised to evolve and extend the unique role it plays in New York City and across the country as it seeks to become a driving force in the cultural, educational, and social mainstream nationally and internationally.

Core Responsibilities

Programmatic:

Design, develop and implement all community arts programming, including K-12 school residencies, after-school programs, professional development workshops, tour partnerships and teaching artist training.
Build on the existing program’s successful foundation by strengthening and positioning Ballet Hispánico’s programs to ensure its leadership position in the education arena.
Collaborate with Artistic Director to prepare Ballet Hispánico Company members for education activities during national tour.
Create, manage and update program materials, including study guides and curriculum design.
Provide ongoing evaluation of the program, teaching artists and staff and  implement current arts education assessment tools.
Cultivate and sustain enduring partnerships with schools, performance venues, cultural organizations and universities.

Institutional:

Build and steward relationships with school administrators, program partners and funders.
Supervise and evaluate community arts team.
Forge a strong working relationship with the senior staff of Ballet Hispánico to strengthen all areas of the organization.
Implement Strategic Plan programming and ensure implementation of the plan’s goals as per the Annual Operating Plan.
Serve as Ballet Hispánico representative to the greater NYC and national dance education community.
Manage departmental budget, ensuring fiduciary integrity across all programs in Education.  
Support the Development Department in the creation of narratives and budgets for proposals that clearly represent the activities and goals of BH’s Community Arts Partnerships programs. 
Represent Ballet Hispánico Education at educational conferences and career fairs.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Dance, Dance Education, or Arts Administration
At least three years of relevant experience in the field
A strong background in education and supervision of education programs
Familiarity with current dance education practices in other communities across the country
Culturally competent in relating to diverse populations.
Strong knowledge of arts education standards and the NYC Blueprint for Dance Education
Deep understanding of New York City Department of Education contracts, policies, and programs.
Spanish language fluency is preferred, but not required.
