Peridance Capezio Center's Teen Summer Intensive is a 3-week comprehensive training program designed for dancers ages 13-17 with serious goals to develop, increase, and strengthen their level of technique, self-confidence, and artistry. An experienced and knowledgeable faculty strongly emphasizes clean technique and self-discipline within a nurturing and supportive environment.

Beyond working to achieve technical strength, students work to understand the value of dance as an art form. Peridance takes pride in drawing students for the Intensive from both the United States and around the world, giving them the unique opportunity to become immersed in dance's diverse community. At the end of the 3 weeks, the Intensive participants demonstrate their amplified understanding of technique, movement, artistry, and performance skills in a fully produced performance presented at Peridance's new in-house Salvatore Capezio Theater.

Weekly ScheduleThroughout the 3 weeks, the students train in a variety of disciplines including Ballet, Pointe/Pre-Pointe, Men's Technique (Advanced level ONLY), Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Theater Dance, Pilates, and Improvisation, as well as participate in repertory rehearsals to learn choreography from members of our astounding faculty. In addition to the 18+ mandatory classes per week, students are able to take up to 15 additional classes from Peridance's Open Classes, where students will be able to select from a variety of techniques and styles, and dance alongside working New York City professionals! 

The Intensive students are split into training groups for classes and repertory rehearsals. Intermediate, Intermediate/Advanced, and Advanced. Placement is determined during a placement audition held on the first day of classes.


Additional Excursions
During the Intensive, students get to experience the richness of New York City through evening and weekend excursions. Past excursions have included trips to famous NYC landmarks, destinations, and museums like the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Rockefeller Center Plaza, Times Square, Central Park, South Street Seaport, SoHo, Chinatown, Coney Island, the MoMA, Guggenheim, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Peridance will also organize a trip to at least one major dance performance at a NYC theater, such as The Joyce Theater or a Broadway Show.


Repertory & Final PerformanceThroughout the 3-week intensive, the dancers are given the opportunity to learn, rehearse, and perform choreography from emerging and well established choreographers. Each dancer will be cast in at least two of the six repertories offered. On the last day of the intensive, a final showcase is held in Peridance's new, state of the art in-house theatre, the Salvatore Capezio Theatre, where the dancers are able to demonstrate their growth and achievements to family, friends, and an invited audience. At the end of the performance, each student is recognized individually and presented with a Certificate of Completion.

How to ApplyTo attend Peridance's Teen Summer Intensive, all students are required to audition in person or by submitting a video application. 
Each audition will consist of a ballet class followed by a contemporary combination.
Attend a Public Audition In order to attend a public audition, please pre-register for one of the auditions listed in our Audition Tour.
Please note that all applications must be submitted no later than one week prior to the audition date.

• Select your desired audition city
• Upload your resume and headshot
• Pay the $30 registration fee
• You will receive an email confirming your submission. 
• Attend selected audition!

Proper Audition Attire:
Women: Leotard, tights, ballet slippers, neat hair. Pointe shoes may be worn for centre work but are not required.
Men: Leotard or fItted T-shirt, tights, ballet slippers


Submit a Video Audition ApplicationStudents unable to attend a public audition are invited to submit a video audition application. 
Students living in NYC and the Tri-State area are not permitted to audition by video and must attend one of Peridance's public auditions.

You must submit the following materials:
• 2 Full Barre Exercises (one side only) 
• Center Adagio 
• Grande Allegro
• Center Combination or a Classical Variation
• Men ONLY: Demonstrate Men's Technical Work with a Center Combination or a Classical Variation.
• Optional: Modern or contemporary combination

• Fill out and submit the Audition Registration Form: 
• Select "Video Audition"
• Upload Video Link through Youtube or Vimeo only (video cannot exceed 5 minutes)
• Upload your resume and headshot
• Pay the $30 registration fee
• You will receive an email confirming your submission with further instructions. 

*All video submissions are due by May 30th.
