Whim W'Him seeking Choreographers
Whim W’Him Choreographic Shindig 2017
SUBMISSION DEADLINE - JUNE 30, 2017
Whim W’Him dancers, under the artistic direction of Olivier Wevers, seek choreographers to create new dance works for the company's fourth "Choreographic Shindig 2018.” Selected choreographers will be invited to Seattle to create original dances with the Whim W'Him dancers. Choreographers share three to four weeks residency, which culminates in eight public performances in Seattle, at the Erickson Theater in September 2018.
We are offering an opportunity for emerging and established choreographers to develop works on our dancers. The dancers will be involved in selecting the choreographers for the residency, which culminates with performances of the new creations. This approach gives the dancers a voice in curating the program, becoming fully involved in a new aspect of the artistic process.
Past choreographers: Adam Barruch, Banning Bouldin, Austin Diaz, Jonathan Campbell, Lauren Edson, Joseph Hernandez, Maurya Kerr, Joshua L. Peugh, Ihsan Rustem, Bruno Roque
DETAILS
+ Choreographers will receive a $3,500 stipend; travel and housing will also be provided
+ Selected choreographers will have 50 hours of rehearsal space with the Whim W’Him dancers
+ Budget for costumes and other technical needs is limited and shall be discussed with Artistic Director
+ Residency weeks during June, July and/or August 2018
