Join our staff for Dance, Drum & Imagination Summer Camp 2017!
Cumbe: Center for African and Diaspora Dance is looking for dynamic, engaging, and loving staff for our Dance, Drum & Imagination Summer Camp 2017! Young artists (ages 3-7) will unleash their imaginations and learn about African-rooted music and dance from across the Diaspora! Join us this summer as we explore our creative voices through six exciting weeks of dance & movement, song, percussion, and a variety of visual art forms. Summer Camp is Monday-Friday July 5 to August 11.
Available positions and responsibilities:
Extended Day Teacher/Classroom Assistant
Responsibilities include:
Planning extended day activities
Implement extended day activities
Assisting with day-to day tasks including:
Greeting Families
Set-up/ Breakdown of rooms; helping campers clean up
Preparing crafts and co-facilitating craft activities
Making sure campers are signed-in when they are dropped off
Helping campers put away belongings
Assist with going to lunch & outdoor play
Bathroom and Water runs
Assisting with Choice Time Set-up & Break Down
Taking photos and videos of campers “in action”
Lead Dance Games, story time, quiet activities and monitor rest time.
Ensuring camp materials are in stock and making purchase as needed
Ideal candidate will have:
2+ years experience working with young people (could include babysitting, assisting, teaching etc)
Previous summer camp staff experience a plus
Great for college or graduate students seeking more teaching experience
Time Commitment and Compensation: Classroom Assistants are expected to work Monday-Friday from 1pm-6pm for the duration. Assistants will be paid $15-$18/hr (commensurate with experience). There will be a MANDATORY Staff post- camp evaluation meeting on August 14 for 3 hours (Time: TBD).
