Sydnie L. Mosley Dances AUDITION

Artistic Director Sydnie L. Mosley seeks dance artists to fill the role of CREATIVE PARTNER who are mature performers, teachers, administrators and who believe in and uphold our Core Values: DREAMING, ACTIVISM, AUTHENTICITY, INDIVIDUALITY, COMMUNITY, LEARNING.

***AUDITION IS A PART OF SLMDANCES SUMMER INTENSIVE.***

AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS:

(1) Please email CV detailing performance, teaching, and administrative experience to allegra@slmdances.com. 

(2) MUST ATTEND AT LEAST ONE (1) TECHNIQUE + REPERTORY WORKSHOP JULY 26-28, 2018.

IF you cannot afford class, please contact allegra@slmdances.com. No dancer will be denied due to lack of funds.

WHO YOU ARE

The company seeks women who have a minimum of 2-3 years experience working as an artist in NYC, and are actively developing their gender and anti-racist analyses. Women of color highly encouraged to apply.

Dancers must have strong technical foundation in a range of modern dance techniques including release and contact improvisation, as well as any African Diasporic dance forms. We are seeking dancers who enjoy creating collaboratively, and have experience with theatrical performance. Dancers must have a background in education and facilitation. Dancers also must be willing to share their administrative skills to advance our organizing work.

SLMDances works collaboratively, values continual learning, and is invested in one another's success. Creative works and educational workshops are collectively researched and co-created. Still, each of our artists is a bawse in her own right: we are responsive, creative problem solvers, independent thinkers and clear communicators who are organized, appreciative of feedback, and value high quality work.

 

COMPENSATION + BENEFITS

paid performances, paid teaching artist/facilitation work, company class at every rehearsal, community building, access to photo and video content featuring your work as a performer and facilitator, professional development opportunities including teacher training and support for achieving personal goals.

 

COMMITMENT

Company Class every Tuesday and Thursday 10AM-12PM, followed by Rehearsal 12-2PM. Occasional evening or weekend rehearsals as needed, scheduled in collaboration with dancers. Professional Development meetings once a month scheduled in collaboration with dancers. 

 

CALENDAR

Orientation and Overnight Retreat: August 20-26, 2018 (mandatory)

Fall Season: September - November 2018 (OFF December 2018 + January 2019)

Spring Season: February - April 2019
