Technical Director/Lighting Designer/Instructor

The Department of Dance & Theatre at Manhattanville College is seeking a Technical Director/Lighting Designer/Instructor. The Technical Director will supervise all production efforts in the areas of scenery, lighting, sound and technology (including the execution of any scenic elements), production budgets, develop and manage production schedules, coordinate, schedule and mentor student work, ensure the safe use of stage and shop equipment, monitor expenses and design/designers’ progress (involving interaction with guest artists), teach stagecraft as possibly lighting design, and care for and maintaining all theatre spaces. The candidate will oversee sound and set construction for dance and theatre productions. He or she will be responsible for the care and maintenance of all theatre spaces, and will interface with facilities personnel to maintain theatrical infrastructure. The successful candidate will ideally teach sections of Lightning Design and Stagecraft, and will supervise, mentor and train students in the safe use of stage and shop equipment. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative work ethic are required. MFA and substantial professional and academic experience required. Start FALL, 2017.
