Join FLY Yoga Arts as a Teaching Artist for the 2017/2018 Academic Year!

Who We Are:

FLY Learning Arts is a yoga, creative arts, and integrated movement education program for school communities. We bring mindfulness and emotional, personal and physical awareness to students, teachers, parents, and administrators.

What we are looking for:

We are looking for enthusiastic part-time independent contractor kids yoga teachers to help fulfill our mission of giving every kid in New York the opportunity to practice yoga. You would be helping us to grow our program and reach more students across New York City – particularly in underserved communities.

Required:

- At least 1 year experience working with children (any age between newborn to 18 years) on a weekly basis

- 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training OR experience in an artistic discipline (i.e. dance, visual art, performance, music)

- Demonstrated experience creating lesson plans and managing classroom behavior compassionately

- Skilled at bringing mindfulness, yoga and the arts to students across NYC

- Demonstrated reliability and punctuality

- Organized, responsible, and communicative

- Empathetic, clear, kind, firm, and FUN!

Preferred but not Required:

- Completed Yoga Teacher Training for Kids

- Advanced 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training

- Experience working in schools - particularly underserved neighborhoods - educators, social workers and parents welcome!

How To Join Us:

·       Please send a cover letter and resume to info@flyyogaarts.com, detailing your relevant experience. To be considered, you will teach a mock class held during the last week of August or first week of September. If successful you will also need to complete 7 class observations/assistant teaching as well as our full-weekend Immersion Training ($350 which can be deducted from your pay or through work-study).  These additional trainings can happen in conjunction with beginning your own class.

·       Attendance at our Friday, September 8th Teaching Artist Meeting is also mandatory.

·       FLY classes are taught weekly throughout the year. You will be asked to commit to the full 2017/2018 academic year to provide consistency for the students. FLY will provide you with weekly lessons, guidance, and prop bags to support your classes.

·       The rate of pay is $35/hour. The number of hours per week for each teacher varies depending on school placement.  Most teachers teach between 1 – 10 hours per week.
