newsteps: a choreographers Series is a CURATED showcase for emerging and/or established artists produced with full production values in the state-of-the-art black box theater at Chen Dance Center. This semi-annual series, est. in 1994, is dedicated to experimental, innovative, and risk-taking creators.

Selected choreographers receive a space grant, honorarium, production support, feedback from a panel of experienced professionals in the arts, and three (3) performances. NO application or showcase fees!  

*All works must be NEW or in progress and cannot be performed in New York City three (3) months prior to, or after, the newsteps performances. Arrangements must be made in advance for pieces having special technical needs or requiring clean-up.
