Lar Lubovitch Dance Company Administrative Internship

The Lar Lubovitch Dance Company is seeking aspiring arts administrators and dance makers to intern this fall as we prepare for our historical 50th Anniversary season. This season will include a series of live-streamed lecture/demonstrations, fund-raising performances and events, and our New York season at the Joyce Theater. Previous interns have gone on to work at institutions such as Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, New York Chamber Music Society, Dance Magazine and here, at the Lubovitch company.  Internships are unpaid, but we offer college credit where applicable.  Interns working more than 25 hours a week may be provided with a pre-paid metro card for the duration of the internship.

Lar Lubovitch Dance Company was founded in 1968 by one of America’s most revered master choreographers.  Based in New York, the company is internationally renowned, having toured in nearly all 50 US states, and in more than 30 countries throughout the world.  Lar Lubovitch has been cited by The New York Times as “one of the ten best choreographers in the world,” and the company is called a “national treasure” by Variety.  The company has a strong focus on the creation of new dances and often engages in unique production collaborations with other top companies such as American Ballet Theatre and San Francisco Ballet. 

 

About the internship: 

This is an ideal opportunity to take your first step toward a career in the arts.  With this internship, you will receive support and training, with the opportunity to gain insight into an established non-profit organization.  You will acquire experience generating contributed income by supporting grant-writing activities, soliciting donations and conducting special events.  The intern will also assist with marketing and promotion of company engagements and educational activities. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong communication skills (both verbal and written), solid computer skills, and will be organized, motivated, and creative.  Experience with social media marketing is preferred.  The applicant should have an interest in the performing arts.
