Shen Wei Dance Arts Internship

Description

Shen Wei Dance Arts (SWDA) is an internationally renowned contemporary dance company under the direction of the Chinese-born, American choreographer and visual artist Shen Wei. The interdisciplinary, culture-bridging, movement-based work Shen Wei makes for his company draws on influences as varied as traditional Chinese culture and arts; European surrealism; American high modernism; and the ritual power of ancient drama. He creates dances for the stage with the compositional rigor of a visual artist (typically designing his own sets, costumes and make-up), incorporating vivid colors, striking design and imaginative use of space into theatrical, kinetic paintings. Often staging his dances on a grand scale with a high level of production detail, his works are celebrated for their “gorgeous visual imagery” (The London Times).

The Company is currently seeking college students and graduates, interested in obtaining hands-on experience in non-profit arts administration for winter/spring internships. Our internship program offers an inside look into the day-to-day operations of a multi-faceted, fast paced arts organization.
