Are you interested in learning how to teach Pre-K dance?

 

I graduated from Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater School in 2011, and have been teaching Pre-K dance classes and performing ever since.

 

I currently run Shadowbox Theater’s Pre-K dance program where I teach and train teachers.

I am also the Pre-K ballet and tap teacher for Rose Academy of Ballet in Forest Hills, Queens and assist Pre-K classes at Mark Morris in Brooklyn in their summer program.   

 

Shadowbox Theater accesses government grants and uses them to finance head start programs to teach dance and education through dance in Pre-K school programs. 

 

We started 4 years ago as a pilot project with 2 classes. This year we are teaching in 3 locations in the Bronx. Because of the success of our program, we need more dance teachers. Our Pre-K dance program is growing every year. 

 

We are starting a teacher training program based on the insights and experiences we have learned teaching young children, 3 to 5 years old, most from low income families.  Potential dance teachers will learn the curriculum we have developed. After completing the 4 session program, you will be qualified to apply to teach full time, part time or as a substitute in one of the new locations. The hours are daytime and pay is very generous. 

 

These four sessions aim to give you the confidence to go into any community and teach Pre-K dance classes.

-All workshops will take place at Green Space Dance Studio in Queens.
